We recently worked on a commercial window film project in Buckinghamshire for a client’s third-floor office, where we installed three different types of film in the same space: Manifestation / Frosted Window Film, Mirrored Window Film, and Security Window Film. Here’s how the project came together.
The Challenge
The office sat on the third floor of a shared building, and it had several different issues that a single type of film could not solve.
Internally, the meeting rooms were built with floor-to-ceiling glass partitions. This was good for natural light but poor for confidentiality. Staff were reluctant to hold sensitive discussions in those rooms while colleagues walked past on the other side of clear glass, but nobody wanted to lose the open, light-filled feel by enclosing the rooms with solid walls.
Externally, the west-facing windows presented a completely different problem. From early afternoon onwards, the direct sunlight on the desks nearest the glass was so strong that staff had to close the blinds just to see their screens, which defeated the purpose of having so much glazing in the first place. The heat build-up was also putting extra strain on the office’s cooling system during the warmer months.
There was a third issue, specific to this building. A section of flat roof next door, used to house plant equipment, could be reached from a fire escape close to one row of the office’s windows. It was not a ground-floor entry risk, but it was a genuine access point, and the client wanted it secured without replacing the glazing.
That meant three different problems, across three different areas of glazing, in the same office.
The Approach

Manifestation / Frosted Window Film was applied to the internal meeting room partitions. The frosted finish broke up the line of sight through the glass, giving the meeting rooms a sense of privacy without losing the light that made the space feel open.
Mirrored Window Film was fitted to the west-facing exterior glazing. This reduced the glare and heat reaching the desks nearest the windows, so the blinds no longer needed to stay down for half the working day.
Security Window Film was applied to the row of windows closest to the accessible flat roof. This strengthened the glass without changing how the windows looked or worked day to day.

The windows near the flat roof access point were reinforced with no visible change from outside the building. There were no new bars and no obvious alterations, just glass that is much harder to break through.
